Great customer service. I had gotten a custom pixel dog for my tag, & it looks just like her! He even put her little lavender collar on the pixel portrait! I loved the tag so much once I received it I had to get another one for my other dog, & this one was a completely custom tag. Communication through everything has been great! What is a pixel art pet tag?
A pixel art pet tag is a personalized pet ID tag with a pixel-art portrait of your own pet on it. Ours starts with a photo you send us after you order. We turn that photo into an 8-bit pixel portrait, unique to your pet, and print it in full color on the front of a coated aluminum tag that is 1.122 inches (28.5 mm) across. The back carries your pet's name and your phone number, so it still does the job of a normal ID tag. Every tag is made to order, one pet at a time. You see the artwork first and approve it before we print anything, and you can ask for changes when you review it. Most orders need one or two rounds. The tag is $29.99. Cats and other pets work the same way as dogs.
Is an aluminum pet tag durable?
Here is what we can say from how the tag is built. It is coated aluminum, your pet's portrait is printed on it in full color, and both sides are sealed. The artwork is printed, not engraved, which is what makes a full-color pixel portrait possible on a metal tag at all. It is made to hang from a collar and be worn every day, and like any tag it is an identification aid rather than a safety device, so check how it is attached from time to time. For anything that goes wrong on our side, the policy is the answer. If your tag arrives damaged, defective, or different from the artwork you approved, send us a photo within 30 days of delivery and we will reprint and reship it at no cost, or refund you in full. Every order ships with tracking, and a tag lost in transit is reprinted and reshipped free.
How big should a pet ID tag be?
Big enough to read, small enough that your pet will actually wear it. Ours is round and 1.122 inches (28.5 mm) across, which is a standard pet-tag size. It fits normal collars and split rings, and it is made to hang from a collar and be worn every day. That is the only size we make today. On bigger dogs it will look small, and larger sizes will be added once we find the right equipment. Size decides how much fits on the tag, which is why the back carries only the two things that matter if your pet gets out, their name and your phone number, while the front carries the portrait. The same tag goes on a cat or a dog. If you are replacing a tag your pet already wears, measure that one against 1.122 inches (28.5 mm) before you order.
It works as a pet ID tag
The back of the tag carries your pet's name and your phone number, so it does the job of a pet ID tag while the front carries the portrait. If your pet ever gets out, whoever finds them can call you.
Cats and other pets too
Most orders are dog tags, but the portrait is made from your photo, so a cat tag works exactly the same way. If you can get a clear photo of your pet, we can make their tag.

What if I want changes to the artwork?

How long does it take?
You will usually see your artwork preview within 3 business days of ordering. After you approve it, we print and ship within 3 business days, with tracking. Most orders arrive within 2 to 3 weeks end to end.
What is your refund policy?
Custom items are final sale once you approve the artwork, except for defects or our error, in which case we make it right at no cost. Before approval, you can cancel for a full refund. Full details are on our refunds page.
What happens to my pet's photo?
It is used only to create your artwork. We never share it, and we delete photos and artwork files six months after delivery. Details are in our privacy policy.
